#2 Radiohead – Burn The Witch

One of the best examples animated music videos is Radioheads ‘Burn The Witch’. It may seem a little ‘Camberwick Green’ in the beginning but give it 30 seconds. This song and video is exactly as the title states, it’s a song about baking birds into a pie and conjures up imaginary of a good ol’ fashioned witch hunt. The video is based on both the original Camberwick Green animation characters and the The Wicker Man – 1972 cult horror which follows a bunch of fire loving pagans.

#3 The Gorillaz – Clint Eastwood

#4 DyE – Fantasy

Another extremely powerful animated music video here. The video follows four teens who break into a high school swimming pool, they intend to have a bit of harmless fun, until their hormones take over and turn them into horrific monsters fuelled by nothing but lust and will devour anyone who stands in their way. An excellent example of how to connect to audience using the power of animation and music. Just a warning, YouTube will make you sing in to confirm your age.

#5 Modest Mouse – King Rat

Modest Mouse were on tour in Australia when they met the famous actor Heath Leger and approached him with their idea of creating an animated music video to accompany their track ‘King Rat’. It was Heath Ledger who wanted to create an animation showing what it would be like if whales were hunting humans, instead of the other way around. The results are very inspiring.

#6 Gnarls Barkley – Crazy

All the way back in 2005 CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse collaborated on what would become the biggest hit of the year! This video shows CeeLo Green singing inside inkblot figures used by psychiatrists all over the world, which begs the question, is he crazy?

#7 Sturgill Simpson – In Bloom

Engaging, weird yet captivating. This animated music video is a soulful rendition of Nirvana’s ‘In Bloom’. The main attraction n this vide is a kid who has a cannon for a head and shoots a heart at a sea monster and ultimately creates a happiness that spreads over the world surrounding him.

#9 Rossonian – Sidewalks

An animated music video which features how tough it can be growing up in the suburbs. But it doesn’t matter where we came from, we are all the same in the end… right? Even if we are, we don’t all get to jet off into space and leave our lives behind.

A blast from the past! In this creative video, British artist Cyriak uses snippets of Bloc Party’s old music videos and mashes them up in photoshop to create disturbing mutations that pulsate and multiply! He is very talented indeed, don’t believe us, well see for yourself.
